Download it Here!

Dear Ms Parsipour,

With reference to Shahrzad (i.e. Ms Kobra Amin-Sa’idi), whose fate is brought to your attention by Mr Ali-Reza Darvish, hereby I should like to inform you and other concerned individuals that Jadid Online has since long been carrying an article concerning Ms Amin-Sa’idi (this article came to my attention some two months ago). The pertinent address is as follows:

Persian:

http://tinyurl.com/4su4jw

English:

http://tinyurl.com/4jq7tw

This article is accompanied by a slide show which can be accessed either at the above addresses or at the following address:

http://tinyurl.com/4xdr9w

In this slide show, Ms Amin-Sa’idi speaks about herself and her life.

Before presenting a proposal that I have earlier posted to one of the relevant pages of Radio Zamaneh (to no avail, I hasten to add), I should like to bring to your attention (as well as the attention of other concerned individuals) that Ms Shahnaz Tehrani is at present in a condition that is likely to lead to that of Ms Amin-Sa’idi before long. For details, I refer you and other concerned readers to the following page of Jadid Online:

http://tinyurl.com/4etrxv

This article is, similar to the earlier one concerning Ms Amin-Sa’idi, accompanied by a slide show which can be accessed either at the latter address or at the following one:

http://tinyurl.com/3gy9ny

Now my proposal. I propose that one should set up a pension fund for such individuals as Ms Amin-Sa’idi and Ms Shahnaz Tehrani. We must see it as one of our prime obligations first as human beings and second as fellow Iranians to save these underprivileged individuals from the indignity that they are either enduring at the present time or are likely to endure in not too distant a future. Perhaps Radio Zamaneh is in a position to bring the importance of establishing this pension fund to the attention of the general public.

I envisage that the pension fund that I am proposing can be established in two steps. In the first step, one has to raise a minimal amount of viable capital through a number of fund-raising events (such as gala concerts) to which wealthy Iranians, as well as philanthropic non-Iranians, are to be invited. In the second step, members of public should be informed and encouraged to donate small amounts of money to this fund on a preferably regular basis (through signing deeds with their banks, authorising a periodic payment from their accounts to the pension fund). For this purpose, a dedicated website can be set up from where the visitors can also donate to the fund by means of their credit cards or through PayPal and other similar on-line banking organisations. Depending on the demands on the fund, one can consider to organise special fund-raising events at regular intervals, e.g. annually. Naturally, the main part of the collected capitals should be responsibly invested so that the bulk of the future pensions can be paid from the gains on the invested capital.

Ms Parsipour, may I be so rude as to request you in this place that you kindly take the initiative in this endeavour? I sincerely believe that the Iranian community will be guilty of a serious moral failure by allowing these women, and men in similar positions, to suffer needlessly from the indignity that this life offers in abundance, while through a collective effort, demanding from each individual only a small amount of money, these sufferings can be prevented altogether.

I envisage that the pension fund to be established will be overseen by a board of trustees selected through some further-to-be-specified procedure from amongst the trusted individuals who are already active in the areas related to women-rights, human-rights and other related humanitarian organisations.

Yours sincerely,

[Mr] BF.

salam,
I have been looking for her and it's almost a month now, they told me that they are gonna give us a phone number to talk to her, my friends in the U.S are looking for her to help her and I agreed to connect them with my reporter friends and hopefully Mr. Mirzaee who made that article in jadidtarin, but to my suprise all I got was an account number from khaneh cinema, with no more information on her. how could we trust to send monye back home and know that she is recieveing it? how do we make sure she would get attention and care not only being a subject for filling the reports and not ending up to jail again?

i deeply agree with the comment of mr bf,and his recomendations for establishing such a foundation to support the past artists who are forgoten and deprived of any financial support today.we once enjoyed the art of such people in the past, how can we just forget them like this or we may retain our old tradition and start to admire and acknowladge them after they pass away from our world?im just wondering what kind of nation we are?im asking you readers of this web site:,im asking this question from mr ahmadinejad, what kind of nation we are?
best regards.

Dear Ms Parsipour,

Thank you for your kind response.

Firstly, may I request you (or other readers) to be kind enough and make an attempt at a brief translation of my above proposal? Writing in Persian requires a complete reorganization of my thought processes, with the consequence that after writing in Persian I am unable to carry out the mental tasks expected from me in my daily life.

Secondly, yesterday morning I wrote a letter to Madreseh-ye Feministi,

http://femschool.org/

requesting that this publication give prominence to the fate of such women as Ms Kobra Amin-Sa’idi and Ms Shahnaz Tehrani. I have also referred them to your present contribution in Radio Zamaneh so that the editor of Madreseh-ye Feministi may consider to get in touch with you, should she decide that you are the person to write for Madreseh-ye Feministi on the subject matter.

Thirdly, this evening I shall write to Ms Darya Dadvar

http://www.daryadadvar.com/

who in the past has been involved in raising funds for the victims of the Bam earthquake of 2003; I shall request her to get in touch with you and possibly advise you on the technical aspects regarding fund-raising events.

I should like to emphasize that raising funds should be attempted only *after* establishing a registered charitable foundation, tasked with a number of well-specified charitable responsibilities, laid down in its founding constitution. Otherwise, no matter how selfless and dedicated one acts, one will always be open to the charge of misusing and/or abusing the raised funds for one’s personal benefit. A registered charitable organization is legally obliged to have a named Board of Governors overseeing its activities; in particular, this foundation is required to have a named treasurer who is to report at set intervals (say, annually) on the financial activities of this foundation; reports of the treasurer should be audited by a registered accountant, both for tax reasons and for demonstrating to the pertinent state offices that the activities of the foundation are in compliance with its stated aims. Once a charitable foundation has been registered in a country, one can open a bank account on the name of that foundation in that country.

The rules differ in different countries, however in some countries, such as the UK, charitable organizations are entitled to some tax credits from the state treasury. In these countries, the state matches the financial contributions to these foundations by the citizens who pay taxes by a certain fraction. For instance, when in the UK one pays 3 pounds to Red Cross, Red Cross will receive 4 pounds in total, 1 pound from the state treasury. In some other countries, people can reclaim a fraction of their contributions to registered charitable organizations from the tax office.

Dear Ms Parsipour, perhaps you would consider to seek some advice from the legal adviser of Radio Zamaneh regarding the technicalities of establishing and registering a charitable foundation. In the meantime, I shall be writing to a number of individuals who might be in a position to help (as I indicated above, I shall be writing to Ms Darya Dadvar this evening; I shall also be writing to Professor Fatemeh Keshavarz, who resides in the USA). Conform my earlier request from you, you may kindly consider to act as the Chair of the steering committee that is to establish the Foundation under discussion. You may consider to invite Ms Rakhshan Bani-Etemad and Ms Tahmineh Milani as members of this steering committee and ultimately as members of its Board of Governors.

It has occurred to me that one may be able to obtain some financial support at some later stage from William & Melinda Gates Foundation:

http://tinyurl.com/5wryg4

If need be, and if indeed appropriate, I shall gladly write the draft of the relevant application letter to William & Melinda Gates Foundation.

It is appropriate to point out that we are living in a world where some people pay nearly USD 200 for a hamburger:

http://tinyurl.com/5cwbst

http://tinyurl.com/6nly2x

The amount of money that Ms Amin-Sa’idi receives from Khaneh Cinema is 90,000 Tumans per month; with USD 1 = Tuman 1,000, Ms Amin-Sa’idi’s monthly income turns out to be less than what some spend on a hamburger!

Yours sincerely,

BF.

Dear Ms/Mr Prouhar,

Thank you for your Comment.

Regarding the “oil money”, I sincerely believe that actions of states reflect the collective will of their respective nations. In this light, I am inclined to be critical of my fellow Iranians before contemplating to criticize the Iranian State for neglecting her citizens. I have not been to Iran for a very long period of time, however by viewing the videos on YouTube, made by some wealthy Iranian youths who aimlessly cruise the Jordan street, Tehran, in their very expensive cars (if I am not mistaken, they are not "aimless" in the strict sense of the word, as they are apparently involved in showing off their cars, and attendant wealth, to the like-minded follow cruisers), I am confirmed in my belief that indeed one should first be criticizing the citizens of a nation before directing one’s criticism to that nation’s State and/or State functionaries.

Yours sincerely,

BF.

Dear Prouhar,

With reference to my Comment of yesterday (addressed to you), just wish to make two further remarks.

Firstly, as regards the wonderful things that ordinary citizens can do for their fellow citizens, I draw your attention to my first Comment, and the references therein, on the following page:

http://tinyurl.com/67c5g7

Secondly, as regards Iran's oil revenues, as it has been repeatedly pointed out by a large number of professional economists inside Iran, oil revenues belong to the Nation (i.e. "Mellat") and not the Government of the day (i.e. the "Doulat"); Dr Mosaddegh did Nationalise (please note the word) Iran's oil; he did not made it a property of Iran's Governments (we say "Naft-e Melli" and not "Naft-e Doulati"). To be explicit, *in principle* Iran's oil revenues must not be used to cover Iran's governmental expenditures, but must be invested into projects that benefit not only the Iranians who live today, but the Iranians of the future generations. This was the general principle during the Pahlavi regime (a principle that was more honoured in the breach than the observance, to quote William Shakespeare) and during the administration of President Khatami.

It was only last week that it was announced that Iran's budget has a deficit of six trillion Tumans (approximately 6 billion US Dollars):

http://tinyurl.com/69zt5z

At the same time, we read that Iranian Bazaris have organised a shameful, but successful, strike action against the requirement of paying 3% (three percent) Value-Added Tax (VAT):

http://tinyurl.com/49j8ch

To appreciate the undeniable greed of the Iranian Bazaris, I point out that UK's rate of VAT amounts to 17.5% (seventeen and a half percent); the average rate of VAT over the EU is 15% (fifteen percent), with some EU citizens paying as much as 25% VAT on goods and services. For details, I refer you to the following entry of the English Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VAT

As the above article indicates, in France nearly 45% of the state revenues are obtained through VAT --- and those who live in France can tell you what high-quality foods the French State provides the French children with, for free, at the preparatory and elementary schools.

Given these undeniable facts, where are Iran's governments supposed to get their required money from? --- the money with which to pay the people in need generous pensions. Surely, they cannot just print money without making the poor people even more poor (through the consequent rise of inflation in the value of money)! In fact, the over 20% rate of inflation (some say 30%) in Iran, is largely a consequence of the wealthy Iranians not paying their due taxes.

If you read Iran's history of the past two hundred years, then you will realise that Iran's woes have their origins in the wealthy Iranians not paying their due taxes --- it did not take long before Iran's land-owning gentry took control of the Majles and blocked all major economic reforms that would benefit the majority of the Iranians, as opposed to the very wealthy (Professor Nikkie R. Keddie in her book, "Modern Iran: Roots and results of revolution", gives a comprehensive account of Iran's economic mismanagements over the course of the past hundred years).

Lastly, in my latest Comment on this page I failed to mention that of the IRT 90,000 pension that Ms Amin-Sa'idi receives from Khaneh-ye Cinema, she pays almost IRT 60,000 for rent of accommodation, water, gas, and electricity. In other words, Ms Amin-Sa'idi subsists on a daily budget of approximately IRT 1,333, i.e. approximately USD 1.3. With this amount we cannot even purchase a cup of coffee in a shopping centre. This should remind us of the outright failure of our present-day civilisation, where some people die prematurely as a result of excess in food consumption, and where some people should live on a budget of nearly USD 1 per day.

Yours sincerely,

BF.

-- BF ، Oct 18, 2008 در ساعت 12:58 PM

Dear toranjak,

I strongly advice that we show respect to Ms Amin-Sa'idi and her dignity by restraining our unchecked charitable instincts: it is not appropriate that Ms Amin-Sa'idi be made the object of our pities and given hand-outs; the matter should be organised along the route of Ms Amin-Sa'idi receiving a decent retirement *pension* from an official Pension Fund. Those who wish to help Ms Amin-Sa'idi and other individuals in similar conditions, should consider to contribute to the Pension Fund to be established.

The fact that Ms Amin-Sa'idi is in dire financial straits does not mean that we can violate her private sphere and undertake actions that are injurious to her dignity. I emphasise, Ms Amin-Sa'idi must be receiving a retirement pension (or, a supplement to the pension that she receives from Khaneh-ye Cinema) and *not* alms! We are not entitled to take Ms Amin-Sa'idi's dignity away by our well-meaning but inappropriate and hasty actions. It is very unfortunate that all these issues are to be discussed in the open on this or similar pages.

Yours sincerely,

BF.

Now I no longer know how to address you. My use of the spelling "Prouhar" was inspired by the following definitions from Dehkhoda's Loghatnameh:

I was well aware of the fact that you must have replaced "F" by "P", through assuming, mistakenly, that all Fs in Modern-Persian words must have been Ps in the Old-Persian words (Avestan is classified as Eastern Old Persian). As is evident from the above excerpt taken from Loghatnameh-ye Dehkhoda, you cannot be right. Since Dehkhoda specifies that the F in Frouhar should be pronounced as "FO", and the H as "HAA", following him, I just transliterated your name as "Prouhar". I hope that now you can concede that I have not been mistaken.

Now to the actual matter. The director who introduced Sharzad to cinema is Mr Masoud Kimia'i, and the film at issue is Ghaysar. Mr Kimia'i is still active - to my best knowledge, he produced his latest film "Ra'is" in 1385, that is two years ago.

Your suggestion would be very reasonable were it not that one cannot directly address individuals (such as Mr Kimia'i) in questions such as this one. At the very least, Ms Amin-Sa'idi must not be made to feel indebted to individuals --- something that one may easily neglect is that individuals in difficult financial circumstances still retain their dignity; above all, being in socially disadvantaged positions, they are emotionally very sensitive and can feel the pangs of being pitied far stronger than would be the case otherwise.

As for Ms Shahnaz Tehrani, she had a very extensive artistic collaboration with Mr Parviz Sayyad (if my memory is not failing, Ms Tehrani came to the attention of the general public through her appearance in the television series Octopus - pronounced "Okhtapus" in Persian - in the role of "Samantha". To my best knowledge, Mr Sayyad does well in the USA, however it is very difficult to address Mr Sayyad directly on this issue, not least because of the fact that he must be already aware that Ms Tehrani has been expelled from the USA.

I emphasise that the best way forward is to set up a Pension Fund, without naming names of any particular individual, thus preserving the dignity of those who are in financial straits and thus are likely to benefit from this Fund. I do realise that the case is urgent (the cold winter is setting in), but setting up such a Fund does not need to take much time; it is just a question of a group of individuals coming together and writing a constitution, setting out the aims of the Foundation, and deposit it with the relevant legal authorities.

Very recently, Mr Ezzatollah Entezami, Mr Kiumars Pourahmad and Mr Parviz Parastoui came together and undertook to save the life of a juvenile in Iran who had been on the death row. To this end, they first contacted the parents of the person who had been murdered and obtained their consent, that on receiving a certain amount of "blood money" they would officially forgive the murderer. To raise the required money, they subsequently opened a joint bank account and asked the public to pay into it. If some person knows these three individuals (i.e. Mr Entezami, et al.), he or she can contact them and request them to help in setting up the Pension Fund under discussion. Unfortunately, I am not in personal contact with these individuals.

Incidentally, recently I wrote a review of an Iranian film. Later I was told that if I had published my review through Google's Knol

http://knol.google.com/k#

I would have earned some USD 300 per month from advertisement revenues. I hereby declare that should the above-mentioned Pension Fund be established, I shall undertake to write several film reviews and upload them to Knol and donate all the earnings from these reviews to this Pension Fund. I am absolutely certain that many people will do similar things as a tribute to their fellow human beings. What is needed is having a legally-established Pension Fund with some well-known and well-respected individuals on its Board. This will give many people confidence to contribute to it, being assured that the money they contribute will be spent on good causes.

Lastly, as I had indicated in an earlier Comment on this page, I wrote to Ms Darya Dadvar and I understand that she has now written to Ms Parsipour on the issue (naming in her letter two good and reliable fund-raising organisations).

Yours sincerely,

BF.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=faravahar

Thank you very much for your kind and informative message.

With regard to helping artists in difficult circumstances (in particular supporting Sharzad and Ms Tehrani on an urgent basis), I fully subscribe to your suggestions. The only point that I should like to emphasise (as I have done so earlier) is that Sharzad and Ms Tehrani must not be given the impression that they have been singled out. They should further not be made to feel indebted to any specific individual.

Do you have any way of contacting for instance Ms Rakhshan Bani-E'temad, Ms Tahmineh Milani, Mr Ezzatollah Entezami, Mr Jamshid Mashayekhi or Mr Masud Kimia'i (or other relevant individuals, such as Ms Niki Karimi, Ms Merila Zare'i, etc.)? If I be given the e-mail addresses of these individuals, I shall be more than happy to write to them. The only matter that makes me somewhat reluctant to do this writing is that I live in the West whereby my contacting of these individuals might be misconstrued by the Iranian security/intelligence officials as a prelude to some state-undermining activity; this would unnecessarily harm the recipients of my letters. Viewed from this perspective, it is advisable, and more effective, if some person living inside Iran brings the issues that are being discussed on this page to the attention of the relevant individuals living in Iran. You might for instance consider (assuming that you are living in Iran) to bring this page to the attention of some Iranian officials dealing with arts and cinema.

For my part, I shall undertake to contact Mr Parviz Sayyad just this evening. It may be relevant to point out that Mr Sayyad has an official website whose address is as follows:

http://www.parvizsayyad.com/

I shall also forward an e-mail (without hoping on any response) to Entacte Café in Tehran which is under the artistic direction of Ms Leila Hatami and Mr Ali Mosaffa:

http://www.entractecafe.com/

Lastly, it would be most welcome to hear some words from Ms Parsipour, whose absence from this page over the course of the past days has been very noticeable.

Yours sincerely,

BF.

With reference to my previous Comment on this page, I have now forwarded two e-mail messages, one to Mr Parviz Sayyad in California and one to Ms Leila Hatami and Mr Ali Mosaffa (at Entracte Café) in Tehran, regarding the proposed Pension Fund.

Further to my latest Comment, today (Sunday, October 26, 2008) I forwarded three additional e-mail messages to Ms Golshifteh Farahani, Mr Bahram Radan and Mr Shahab Hosseini, drawing their attentions to the pertinent pages of Jadid Online and the above-proposed "Pension Fund". For some technical reasons, I did not succeed in forwarding similar e-mail messages to Ms Mahnaz Afshar and Mr Mohammad-Reza Golzar - I shall attempt again in the course of next week.

BF.

ps) Radio Zamaneh: You have neglected to publish one of my earlier Comments on this page.

-- BF ، Oct 26, 2008 در ساعت 12:58 PM

Few minutes ago, I forwarded an e-mail message (similar to those indicated above) to Ms Baran Kosari. Reaching Ms Kosari is doubly auspicious, as thereby one also reaches Ms Rakhshan Bani-E'temad, Ms Baran Kosari's mother.

Further to my previous Comment, just wish to mention that I have now also written to Ms Niki Karimi, informing her of the reports published by Jadid Online.

Just wish to let you and other concerned individuals know that this is my last Comment on this page, as well as other pages of Radio Zamaneh. Reason: About an hour ago, I received an utterly insulting e-mail from the Online Editor of Radio Zamaneh, which I reproduce below, calling my messages on this page as "irrelevant comments". I have therefore decided to discontinue *all* my contacts with Radio Zamaneh from now onwards; this is not the place for me to be in.

Here are the above-mentioned letter and my response to it:

The following is my response to the above letter (where the writer repeatedly boasts about his/her supposed "hosn-e niyyat"!):

The Editor

Radio Zamaneh

Wednesday, 29 October 2008

Dear Editor,

Firstly, the Comment that Radio Zamaneh has not published, was submitted to the Comments section of the following page:

http://zamaaneh.com/photography/2008/10/post_737.html

on Sunday, October 26, 2008. I attach the text of the pertinent Comment here below (you need not publish it any longer). Upon submitting this Comment, a text appeared on the screen of my computer, stating that my message had been received by Radio Zamaneh. I am therefore dumbfounded by your assertion that Radio Zamaneh has published *all* my Comments.

Secondly, as for what you call "irrelevant comments", actually I take offence by your inconsiderate remark. The sad thing in this context is that you seem not to be aware of the reason why I have been submitting those Comments. If you had read Ms Parsipour’s message (who regrettably has failed to follow up the case --- rather surprising for a woman who for some period of time --- when her bookstore in Tehran was forcefully closed down --- has experienced the pain of being financially desperate), addressed to me on that page, you would have realized that she explicitly stated that she did not know how to proceed with my suggestion (e.g. that she did not know how to open a bank account). This being the case, and in view of the Comments by other readers who had shown both concern for the dire condition in which Shahrzad lives (and similarly as regards Ms Shahnaz Tehrani) and interest in my proposal, I used the Comments page at issue as a public forum whereby to communicate with others, informing them of the ongoing relevant developments. My statements regarding my e-mail messages were all principally directed to Ms Parsipour: through those messages, she would be informed that some actions are being undertaken (she could have asked me e.g. to provide her with the relevant e-mail addressed --- I have gone through enormous trouble for finding those e-mail addresses which are not in public domain). Of course, I could have written directly to Ms Parsipour, however that would disclose my identity to her and in this particular case I do not wish that my identity be disclosed to any person, including Ms Parsipour (I would feel that I were a hypocrite by publicly associating my name with a humanitarian cause).

For your information, in all my communications with various individuals (those whose names I have named in my so-called “irrelevant comments”), I have told them that until such time as there is a centre for coordinating the activities related to the setting up of the proposed Pension Fund, they should regularly consult the Comments page at issue for the news on the latest developments.

It seems that I cannot get on with Radio Zamaneh, and you, the Editor, seem to view me as an intruder into what you may be viewing as your private business. Be it as it may, I think that in the course of the past two or three months (since I started visiting the website of Radio Zamaneh – rather foolishly, I hasten to add) I have been sufficiently many times humiliated by Radio Zamaneh that today I should say farewell to it for good. I shall now immediately delete the URL of Radio Zamaneh from my browser and thereby stop visiting its website. I shall also discontinue sending Comments (in any language) to Radio Zamaneh. These will remove the burdens that I must have been causing for Radio Zamaneh. It is strange, to say the least, that you must be viewing my writing in English as a token of my disrespect to your readership, disregarding the fact that I actually spend my precious time on composing my texts, even though they are in English; they are not generated by some computer program. There is something very parochial about Radio Zamaneh which has always discomforted me.

I feel compelled to add that I find it very callous of Radio Zamaneh that it has never undertaken to devote even one inch of space (barring that program by Ms Parsipour, which was an initiative of her’s) on the fate of such defenseless women as Shahrzad and Ms Shahnaz Tehrani; it is as through these women did not exist. Being an Iranian myself, I think I am entitled to be critical of the rampant insensitivity that is so much part of our culture; the world outside the small circle of our family and close friends simply does not exist. In the meantime, Radio Zamaneh publishes pages upon pages on the health benefits of masturbating at least seven times per week, which goes a long way to showing how narcissistic we really are, or have become (and I am not even a puritanical person). I am reminded of the following prophetic words by Nietzsche in his Also Sprach Zarathustra:

This is my last communication with Radio Zamaneh (and with Ms Parsipour for that matter), so please kindly discontinue forwarding any further messages to me.

Yours sincerely,

[BF].

With kind regards,

BF.

Good day, sun shines!
There have been times of hardship when I felt unhappy missing knowledge about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never imagined that there weren't any need in large initial investment.
Now, I'm happy and lucky , I begin take up real income.
It's all about how to choose a correct companion who utilizes your funds in a right way - that is incorporate it in real deals, parts and divides the income with me.

You may ask, if there are such firms? I have to tell the truth, YES, there are. Please be informed of one of them:
