Killing of Alireza Eftekhari and AmirHosein Toofanpour confirmed

Reporters without Borders confirmed that Alireza Eftekhari, former journalist for Abrar-e Eghtesadi, was killed in Iran and they demanded an investigation into his murder. The remains of the 29-year-old journalist, who died from brain hemorrhage caused by blows to the head, were returned to his family on 23rd of June. RWB expressed deep concern that detained journalists in Iran “have been deprived of all their rights.”
The international Campaign for Human Rights in Iran also confirmed that Alireza Toofanpour was killed in street demonstrations in Tehran. His remains were returned to his family only on condition that they do not hold a funeral for him at mosque. He too had suffered from blows to his face, arm, back and neck as well as shot in the legs and back.

The families of the victims are under pressure from the State to refrain from speaking to the media about the killing of their children. Many protesters have been killed and injured during the recent events in Iran. Iranian authorities have confirmed that 20 people have been killed so far; however, human rights groups claim hundreds of people have lost their lives in the past forty days of protest.
