Detainees to appear in court on Saturday
The Islamic Republic News Agency, Irna, reported the indictment of 20 people on charges of “participating in street disturbances” following the presidential elections. Other charges mentioned in this context are as follows: “ties to the terrorist group Nefagh, bombing, possession of firearms and grenades, … assaulting police and Basij forces, attacking military and academic centres, providing images and photographs for enemy media, organizing ruffians and disturbers, as well as vandalizing private and public property.”
Although none of those indicted have been officially identified, Irna claims that Satiar Emami and Majid Saeedi have confessed to traitorous collaboration with enemies and revealed the names of their collaborators. Emami and Saeedi are two prominent photographers whose works have appeared in both hard-line conservative and reformist media in Iran. However, the State News Agency claimed that the two had been in training since 18 months ago by an active western anti-revolutionary group under the supervision of Serb and Georgian experts with Dubai as one of their meeting grounds.
