Tehran Prosecutor, Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi discussed the imminent execution of Shahla Jahed and the recent failed highjacking of an Iranian flight at a press conference today.

According to ISNA, Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi confirmed that the death sentence of Shahla Jahed will be carried out tomorrow and went on to accuse some websites of creating doubt regarding her case.

According to some reports, Jahed, who was accused and tried for murder of the wife of a famous Iranian football player, despite confessing to the murder after eleven months in custody, had denied the charge in her trial.

He said: “I have to emphasize that these doubts are baseless because the suspect has explicitly confessed to the crime. The file has been diligently processed and those who have been trying to create doubts should stop.”

Tehran Prosecutor also touched on the recent highjacking of Iranian flight to Damascus last Saturday. Jafari Dowlatabadi maintained that the highjacker is now in Syrian custody and in view of agreements will be transferred to Tehran in the next few days.

He added that there has been no conclusive investigation of the case and no comments could be given regarding the detainee's mental state or links to anti-Revolutionary elements.

Today Iran’s intelligence minister, Heydar Moslehi told ISNA that the detained highjacker has a “troubled" and "weak character” but did not rule out links to Western spy services.
