Iran says international gasoline sanctions ineffective

Iran's Deputy Oil Minister, Abolhossein Bayat

Abolhossein Bayat, Iran's Deputy Oil Minister announced that Iran is completely independent from gasoline imports despite “enemy plans to impose gasoline sanctions against Iran.”

Deputy Oil Minister said: “The enemy had planned the gasoline sanctions in a manner that by the opening of the academic season, we would deplete our gasoline reserves and hit a crisis.”

He added that the petrochemical industries began producing gasoline three weeks prior to official announcements in the media.

Iran’s Oil Minister announced in September that Iran will soon reach complete self-sufficiency in gasoline production and alter added that they would even begin exporting gasoline in the near future.

The oil ministry officials have been giving contradictory reports regarding the production of petroleum products. Earlier they maintained that the production of gasoline in petroleum plants will stall the production of petroleum products.

However, the Deputy Oil Minister announced today that the production of petroleum products has not been affected by the production of gasoline and everything in the export of petroleum products has in fact increased in the past month.
