Iranian reformists say government unfit to provide security

Iranian reformist party, Islamic Iran Participation Front issued a statement in reaction to the suicide attacks in Zahedan questioning the legitimacy and competence of the government in providing people with security, livelihood and freedom.

Thursday night, two suicide attacks at the Grand Mosque in the southeastern city of Zahedan left 27 dead and over 300 people injured.

Jundallah, a militant group, which claims to be fighting for the rights of the Sunni minority in Iran, took responsibility for the attacks publishing the photos of the two attackers on their weblog on Friday.

Recently, the Islamic Republic arrested Jundallah leader, Abdolmalek Rigi in a complicated intelligence operation and executed him.

The US, Britain, France and the European Union condemned the terrorist attacks; however, a number of Iranian officials have accused the US and Britain of financing the terrorist operations in the region.

The Islamic Iran Participation Front assured the government that “an iron fist” is not the adequate response to the bitter problems in Sistan & Baluchistan Province.

Refering to the current Iranian government as a government that has risen from a coup, in its statement that was published on Norooz website, the reformist party condemned the “coup d’etat government’s policies of intimidation, violence and oppression which is being forced on every aspect of every single Iranian's life, equally.”

Iranian reformist have used the term “Coup d’etat government” for the tenth government led by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad since they allege that the government has risen from vote fraud in the 2009 presidential elections.

Ahmadinejad opponents in the presidential race, MirHosein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi deny the legitimacy of the government since the claim they ballot was rigged, but the government denies these allegations.
