Iranian opposition leader, Zahra Rahnavard issued a statement this morning expressing hope that the news of execution of Zeynab Jalalian is just “a rumour.”

RAHANA website quoting Pasha Jalalian, Zeynab Jalalian’s brother, yesterday wrote: “The lawyers cannot no anything anymore. If things go on in this manner, no one will be able to do anything. Her death sentence will be upheld and carried out.”

Zeynab Jalalian in a 28-year-old woman who was sentence to death last year by Iranian judiciary accused of collaboration with the Kurdish dissident group, Pezhak.

She was arrested three years ago in Kermanshah and was recently transferred to Tehran’s Evin Prison.

Rahanavard urges the judiciary to commute Zeynab Jalalian's death sentence. She also urges the Islamic Republic authorities to reconsider the death penalty and join the majority of the world in scrapping this punishment from their judiciary.
