Iran summons Swiss Ambassador

Iran summoned the Swiss Ambassador in Tehran as the representative of US interests in Iran and called for the extradition of the “Tondar terrorist group” members from America.

Mehr news agency reports that Iranian authorities have found “connections” between the “Tondar terrorist group” and the assassination of Massoud Ali-Mohammadi in Tehran last week and thus request the extradition of the members of this group from America in order to be tried in Iran.

Swiss Ambassador’s response was that “she will inform US authorities of the case and announce the results.”

Massoud Ali-Mohammadi, an Iranian physics lecturer, was killed after a booby-trapped motorcycle exploded near his home on January 12.

Iran has so far blamed the act on “Tondar” organization which goes also by the name of “Association of Iranian Monarchists.” This group has announced that “we have no interest in killing a university professor” and denied any role in the assassination.

Tehran Prosecutor-General, Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi also announced today that the investigations regarding the murder of Massoud Ali-Mohammadi are still in progress.

Yesterday in an open letter, over 100 academics and university administrators form across the world condemned the assassination of Massoud Ali-Mohammadi and called for an independent probe into his death.
